HomeServices of America has acquired real estate research and strategy firm 1000WATT. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
As a result of the deal, 1000WATT will become an internal resource for HomeServices of America’s owned brokerage and franchise operations. HomeSerivces said it intends to “fully leverage 1000WATT’s capabilities, research and content.”
“1000WATT has spent nearly two decades inside this industry, working with hundreds of companies and developing a perspective and skill set that is difficult to replicate,” Chris Kelly, the president and CEO of HomeServices of America, said in a statement. “Bringing this team and the research platform they’ve built inside HomeServices gives us an extraordinary combination of industry knowledge, research, strategy and creative talent to help us further execute our vision of a Complete Real Estate Experience.”
According to the announcement, first reported by Inman News, 1000WATT co-founder Brian Boero will become chief marketing and strategy officer of HomeServices. In addition to this, Marc Davison, 1000WATT’s other co-founder, will serve as chief creative officer. The companies said the entire 1000WATT team will join HomeServices of America.
Over the past year, 1000WATT has worked with HomeServices of America to launch OnePoint, its unified technology platform.
“HomeServices of America has built something singular: a scaled national enterprise that includes brokerage, a wholly-owned top-25 mortgage lender, a 50-state title footprint, a nationwide insurance company, and now mortgage servicing.” Boero said. “We’ve seen that unique structural advantage come alive in the past year working with Chris and the HomeServices team, and can’t wait to bring all of our energies to bear on an effort of this reach, scale and ambition.”
For years, HomeServices has held brokerage, mortgage, title and insurance companies under its unified umbrella, but this has remained largely un-marketed to the broader public. The companies told HousingWire that OnePoint is an effort to change this, taking a “back-office capability into a branded, consumer-facing experience built around trust, continuity and a single point of contact across the transaction.”
“This acquisition, along with all of the initiatives we’ve launched this year, marks a moment of massive opportunity to truly redefine the real estate experience and offer consumers a solution that balances skilled people with helpful technology,” Kelly said in a statement.
This development comes as HomeServices of America has broadened its reach into the housing ecosystem, adding in-house mortgage servicing through its wholly owned lender, Prosperity Home Mortgage, LLC, in late August.
