‘Going on the Christmas list!’ Asda introduces new crisps and shoppers can’t wait to try

Asda has unveiled its latest festive crisp flavour for Christmas 2024, introducing Extra Special Roasted Camembert & Garlic to its seasonal range.

The new flavour, which combines creamy camembert notes with fragrant garlic, is joining other festive treats on shelves.

The launch comes as the supermarket giant anticipates a significant surge in Christmas snacking for 2024, with predictions showing festive crisps sales are set to nearly double compared to last year.

The premium crisps, made with British potatoes and hand-cooked for extra crunch, join Asda’s existing festive range at £1.35 for a 150g sharing bag.

The Extra Special range features three festive flavours: Roasted Camembert & Garlic, Beef & Red Wine Gravy and Pigs in Blankets.

Customers have taken to social media to express their enthusiasm. “These are so good!” wrote one customer, while another declared: “Omg – I would sacrifice all my organs for a bag of these!”

The new Camembert variety has caught the most attention, with customers noting: “The Camembert is stronger tasting than you’d expect!”

Social media comments show growing excitement, with users writing, “going to add these to the Christmas list” and, “a trip to Asda is incoming.”

Asda’s sales predictions for its festive crisps show remarkable growth, with expectations to sell 528,000 packs in 2024 compared to 287,000 last year.

The Extra Special Pigs in Blankets variety is anticipated to be the star performer, with projected sales of 240,000 packets during the festive period.

The popularity of festive flavours was evident in 2023, when online searches for camembert on Asda.com peaked in mid-December, reaching 5,000 searches in a single day.
