Since Glossier debuted its original Cloud Paint Blush in 2017, fans (including Glamour editors) have been obsessed with the variety of colors and innovative gel-cream formula. Last month Glossier reimagined the classic product into a new form and released the Glossier Cloud Paint Plush Blush, so obviously we were eager to try it.
On the surface, the new version appears to be your typical powder blush, until you press into it. The pad has a memory cloud texture that makes the application weightless but buildable, perfect for a soft-matte finish. Just like its predecessor, the new Cloud Paint Plush Blush is buildable and easily blendable, which means you can add it to your everyday makeup routine or when you’re looking to make a statement.
Available in 10 shades, the brand says the inspiration for the the new Cloud Paint blush comes from New York sunsets with a shade for every skin tone. Of the 10, some are classic Glossier like the soft peach Beam, light pink Puff, and bright pink Soar, with some new variations thrown into the mix.

Glossier Cloud Paint Plush Blush in ‘Gale’

Shade: Storm
I tried Glossier’s new blush in Storm, a brick-brown shade that ended up being a bit too strong for my fair-to-medium skin with yellow undertones (I suspect Float or Puff would’ve worked better). Still, I liked the formula a lot—it’s creamy, blends seamlessly into foundation, and actually lasts. I let one layer set before adding another, and the color stayed put for hours. I appreciated that, unlike a powder, you can tap it on with your fingers and the pigment carries; I did that for extra color at the tops of my cheekbones. I preferred that approach—or using the bristle end of Glossier’s dual-ended brush—to the squishy pillow side of the brush, which felt awkward and stamped too much pigment in one spot instead of diffusing it softly. All in all, I’m glad I gave this blush a try, and plan to incorporate it into my routine.

Shades: Bloom and Puff
Glossier’s ultra-pigmented OG Cloud Paint always felt a bit like stage makeup on my fair skin, so I’m all about the more subtle Plush Blush. The texture is unique—it (literally!) doesn’t crumble under pressure like many other powder blushes, but it’s softer and more buildable than most cream formulas. It’s silky-smooth, and plays nicely as a base for a dewey makeup look or a matte finish. I love the shades Bloom and Puff for a romantic, natural blush look that’s easy to build up, from a lively winter flush to a warm, sun-kissed glow. If you’re hopping on the toasty makeup trend this fall, this blush is your best friend. It truly looks like the color is baked into your cheeks.

I remember trying the original Glossier Cloud Paint when it first launched and fell in love with how easy it was to use. Just squeeze and apply. Similarly, the new Plush Blush products are simple to apply. I love that Glossier used some of its classic colors like Puff and Storm, while introducing new ones like Bloom and Billow. I ended up picking Plume because I don’t usually go for purple shades, but thought it would be interesting for my skin tone. I love the color, and have been using it ever since. I would, however, recommend using this product with a brush. It’s easier to evenly distribute and blend as opposed to using your fingers.

Shade: Gale
I’m a blush obsessed so I had high hopes for this powder formula upon my first time trying it. It’s pretty innocuous at first, especially in the shade Gale, which I tried. It takes a few swirls of a dense powder brush to pick up enough color to show up, but after three to four, the pigment is perfect. It’s velvety-soft in texture and did a great job of sinking into my skin after a swipe. I loved how pinky-coral this shade was and it popped on my olive skin tone. I was A+ impressed with this and I’ve been using it every day since.

Initially, when I tried the blush in the shade Float because I felt the color was something I’d go for normally, I liked the formula and the brush. It was easy to put on and very buildable, but didn’t get that “wow” factor. But then I tried it the shade Storm, and I must say: I love it. It’s literally become my daily blush now.
