The best thing to happen to the Giants during their 12 days in West Virginia is what did not happen.
They arrived, they worked, and they left unscathed.
Sure, there were some bumps and bruises along the way. Those were to be expected, considering the grueling schedule head coach John Harbaugh set in motion for his first training camp with the Giants: four days on, one day off, six days on; full pads the final six days (only one less strenuous walk-through); and sessions that regularly were two or more hours in duration.
The physical demands were real. This is the way Harbaugh gets his team prepared for the rigors that come next. This can toughen a team, and it can also weaken a team if the extreme workload leads to serious injuries. The Giants avoided that during their time in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Consider that a major accomplishment, especially compared with the significant player losses around the league this summer. Heck, an NFC East division rival lost one of its best players, as left tackle Laremy Tunsil went down Saturday with a torn triceps so the Commanders will be without him for a significant portion of the season.
