Four students who died after vehicle crashed into Colchester building named
The four people who died after a vehicle crashed into a building were university students, Essex Police has said.
The force provisionally named three men and a woman as those travelling in a car before it crashed into a building in Colchester at 4.40am on February 1.
University of Essex students Makyle Bayley, 21, Eva Darold-Tchikaya, also 21, Anthony Hibbert, 24, and Daljang Wol, 22, all died at the scene.
Essex Police has also asked anyone who saw a black Ford Focus being driven along Magdalen Street on in the vicinity to come forward with information.
The plea, which requires those with information to quote incident 179 of February 1, included CCTV, dash cam and doorbell footage of the vehicle.
It had been reported that the car crashed after the students were returning from a night out in Colchester.
Temporary Assistant Chief Constable Stuart Hooper said: “I want to extend my condolences to the friends and family of Makyle, Eva, Anthony, and Daljang.
“This will be an incredibly difficult time for them and we have specialist officers supporting them.

“Our specialist Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating what led up to the collision but at this stage we do not believe any other vehicles were involved.
“I again want to thank all the attending emergency services for their efforts to maintain the dignity of those who died and to the community for their support and co-operation.

Essex Police had been informed about a collision at around 4.40am on February 1.
The force confirmed that the families of all four victims were informed and were being supported by specialist officers.
Officers closed the road for much of yesterday while the vehicle was being recovered.
Enquiries were also being carried out at the scene.
