Sources of pathogens have not been identified

The FDA is investigating two new outbreaks, one of Listeria infections and one of E. coli O157:H7 infections. The has not determined the pathogen source for either outbreak.
For the outbreak of Listeria monocytogenes, 40 patients have been identified. The Food and Drug Administration has not reported the ages of the patients or where they live.
The FDA has begun traceback in the Listeria investigation but is not reporting what food is being traced.
For the outbreak of E coli infections, 25 patients have been identified. The FDA is not reporting the ages of the patients or where they live. The agency has begun traceback but is not reporting what food is being traced.
In other outbreak news, for an outbreak of Salmonella Newport the patient count has increased to 116, up from 111 a week ago. The FDA is not reporting the patient’s ages or where they live.
In the past week the agency has begun sampling but it is not reporting what is being sampled. The outbreak was first reported on Aug. 26.
