In the vein of the Paul Feig-directed adaptation of Frieda McFadden’s The Housemaid comes a new buzzy adaptation Count My Lies, based on the book by Sophie Stava.
In television form, the story, starring Lindsay Lohan, Shailene Woodley, Kit Harrington, Katherine LaNasa and more will unfold with a similar premise.

Lohan was the first to board the project in her television debut role. She is expected to play the charismatic Violet, who hires Woodley’s character, Sloane Caraway. Woodley was cast next as the compulsive liar who lands a job in Violet’s home.
Kit Harrington will play Jay Lockhart, Violet’s husband. Deadline broke the news that The Pitt star Katherine LaNasa will portray Shailene Woodley’s character’s mom, Tracy.
What is Count My Lies about?
Count My Lies is Stava’s debut novel. Published by Scout Press, an imprint of Simon & Schuster, on March 4, 2025, it was the GMA Book Club pick for that month.
The plotline for the TV show reads, “When compulsive liar Sloane Caraway (Woodley) fibs her way into a nanny position for the gorgeous and charismatic Violet (Lindsay Lohan) and Jay Lockhart (Kit Harington), it seems she’s finally landed her dream job. But little does Sloane know, she’s just entered a household brimming with secrets that are about to explode — with potentially catastrophic consequences for all.”
Who is behind Count My Lies?
Former This Is Us executive producers and co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger are behind the show, which will go to Hulu as a result of their overall deal with 20th Television. Via The Walk-Up company, the duo serve as showrunners and executive producers.
Also executive producing are Lohan, Woodley and Scott Morgan of The Walk-Up Company. Author Stava also serves as a producer. 20th Television, part of Disney TV Studios, where Aptaker and Berger are under an overall deal, is the studio.
