March 31 (UPI) — Euphoria Season 3 is one of several upcoming TV series and films featuring transgender actors.

The drama series following a group of troubled teenagers will have a five-year time jump when it returns for a third season April 12 on HBO Max.

Transgender actress Hunter Schafer returns to star as Jules Vaughn, a classmate and love interest of Rue Bennett (Zendaya). Other cast members include Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Colman Domingo.

Here’s a list of other upcoming TV series and films with trans actors to mark Transgender Day of Visibility.

‘Blade Runner 2099’

Also starring Schafer, the new sci-fi series serves as a sequel to the 2017 film Blade Runner 2049, directed by Denis Villeneuve. Both take place in the same universe as Ridley Scott‘s 1982 movie Blade Runner, based on a Philip K. Dick novel.

Silka Luisa (Shining Girls) will write Blade Runner 2099 and serve as showrunner. She also executive produces alongside Scott.

Schafer stars with Michelle Yeoh in the series, which will premiere on Prime Video in 2026.

‘Carrie’

Former Disney Channel star Josie Totah, who came out as a transgender woman in 2018, stars in Carrie, an upcoming TV series based on the 1974 horror novel by Stephen King.

Created, directed and showrun by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House), Carrie is “a bold and timely reimagining” of the story of Carrie White (Summer Howell), a misfit teen with telekinetic powers.

Totah told Teen Vogue in November that her character is “fun and interesting” because it expands on a small role from the 1976 film adaptation starring Sissy Spacek.

Carrie will premiere on Prime Video in 2026. Totah will also star alongside Euphoria album Barbie Ferreira and singer Charli XCX in a remake of the 1978 horror film Faces of Death.

‘The Odyssey’

The new film adaptation of the ancient Greek epic by Homer features actor Elliot Page, who came out as a transgender man in 2020.

Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, the fantasy action movie stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca who embarks on an epic journey home to his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) after the Trojan War.

The film reunites Page with Nolan, who directed him in the 2010 blockbuster Inception before his coming out. Page said at New York City Comic-Con in October that it “meant so much” to work with Nolan again while “being more comfortable in yourself.”

The Odyssey opens in theaters July 17.

‘Outcome’

Laverne Cox, the transgender actress and activist who came to fame on Orange is the New Black, stars in Outcome, an upcoming dark comedy film directed and co-written by Jonah Hill.

Also starring Keanu Reeves, Cameron Diaz and Matt Bomer, the movie follows Reef Hawk (Reeves), a beloved Hollywood actor who must confront his past after being blackmailed with a video that could end his career.

Outcome premieres April 10 on Apple TV+.

‘Trinidad’

Karla Sofía Gascón, who became the first openly transgender woman to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress at the 2025 Oscars for Emilia Pérez, will return to film in the new movie Trinidad.

Trinidad is a western directed by Laura Alvea and José Ortuño that follows Trinidad (Gabriela Andrada), a woman who flees Spain and ends up in the wild west of the United States.

Gascón plays Bronson, a villainous character whom she described as “a kind of female Darth Vader with five children to protect and manipulate” in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in June.

The movie is expected to release in 2026.
