EasyJet flight issues urgent ‘medical emergency’ as passenger rushed to hospital

An easyJet flight arriving at Edinburgh Airport issued a medical emergency on Monday afternoon, with paramedics meeting the aircraft upon landing.

Flight EZY811 from London Gatwick landed at Edinburgh Airport at around 4.25pm on February 3, and required immediate medical assistance for a passenger onboard.

Emergency services were dispatched to Gate 23 at Edinburgh Airport to attend to the incident.

The passenger was later transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Edinburgh Airport officials confirmed the fire service were the first to respond to the incident on the tarmac.

Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service subsequently arrived at the scene after receiving an emergency call at 4.25pm.

Images from the scene showed emergency services personnel attending to the situation.

The airport’s fire crews provided initial assistance before handing over to ambulance service paramedics who then transported the patient to hospital.

An Edinburgh Airport spokesperson said: “Members of our fire service were first responders to an incident before the arrival of paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed: “We received a call at 16.25 on Monday 3 February to attend an incident at Edinburgh Airport.”

One ambulance was dispatched to the scene and one patient was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.”

An easyJet spokesperson stated: “Flight EZY811 from London Gatwick to Edinburgh on February 3 was met by paramedics after arrival due to a customer onboard requiring medical attention.

“The safety and wellbeing of our customers and crew is always easyJets highest priority.”

It comes after police removed two disruptive passengers who “threatened” staff from an easyJet flight after it landed in Geneva last Sunday.

Six officers boarded flight EZY2684 from Birmingham Airport following its arrival in the Swiss city at around 7pm.

Passengers were ordered to remain in their seats as police dealt with the situation.
