Eamonn Holmes erupts at Labour’s tax ‘obsession’ as winter fuel raid looms: ‘The state of Britain!’

Eamonn Holmes erupted into a furious rant today on GB News about Labour’s “obsession” with taxation.

The GB News star says Sir Keir Starmer’s Government has made itself “incredibly unpopular” mere months after they came to power.

Many are waiting with bated breath for this Labour administration’s first Budget this month, where winter fuel payments are set to be slashed for thousands of pensioners.

Eamonn did not hide his ire at the raid, suggesting he expects Labour to target ordinary folk in more unforeseen ways.

“Why is the Government obsessed with clawing money back from all of us?”, he asked.

“They have this massive majority and have a huge gain in seats. So why do they want to make themselves incredibly unpopular straight away?

“Especially with elderly pensioners, taking away their Winter Fuel Allowance. The state of this country with taxes is untrue.

“What is Value Added Tax? If you were to buy a tumbler there is Value Added Tax. Why do some things have this and some don’t?

“Why do they have this obsession with doing all the hard things and bad things first?”

Speaking on GB News this morning, Science Secretary Peter Kyle insisted there will be no new taxes on working people as he reaffirmed the party’s manifesto pledge.

He spoke from an investment summit hosted by Sir Keir Starmer which the Government hopes will encourage major international firms to invest trillions into Britain.

“All of the manifesto commitments we made stand”, Kyle told Eamonn Holmes and Isabel Webster.

“We will honour our manifesto commitments and the Budget is the week after next. We have this opportunity because I am standing in a place where $40 trillion of global assets are represented by the companies that own them.

“That is what we should be focusing on right now. The budget is in a couple of weeks time, we have this potential before us because this Government, Keir Starmer, Rachel Reeves and myself, we see huge potential in our country.

“This is one of those moments where we can unlock it. We are proud of our country, we are proud of the potential our economy has, and we are working to get deals that will benefit everyone across the entire country.”
