An unfortunate trend continues for the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2022, the Eagles made a run to the Super Bowl before losing to the Chiefs. The next season, they bowed out of the postseason in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs and proceeded to sever ties with their offensive and defensive coordinator.

The Eagles returned to triumph with a Super Bowl Championship to cap the 2024 season, but have now been knocked out of the postseason in the Wild Card Round of the follow-up campaign, losing to the 49ers this past weekend. And now, the Eagles will once again part ways with their offensive coordinator, as the news broke on Tuesday afternoon that the Eagles have relieved Kevin Patullo of his duties.

“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator,” Eagles head Coach Nick Sirianni said in a statement on the move. “I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach that has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization. I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career. Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”

Patullo served in the offensive coordinator role for just one season for Eagles after spending four seasons as an offensive assistant, and the Eagles went 11-6 and won the NFC East with the help of Patullo’s offense. But the offense did significantly regress from the Super Bowl Championship squad the year prior, as the went from the second-best rushing attack in the NFL and the eight-best offense in 2024 to just the 24th-best offense and the 18th-best run game this season.
