‘Don’t knock them!’ Aldi shoppers intrigued by supermarket’s unusual crisp flavours
Two additions to Aldi’s Specially Selected range have sparked intense debate on social media, as shoppers react to two unconventional crisp flavours.
The supermarket’s Corn On The Cob Crinkle Cut Crisps and Hot Dog & Onion Crinkle Cut Crisps have generated significant attention after being featured by the food blog Newfoodsuk.
The Corn On The Cob variety in particular has divided opinion among snack enthusiasts, with reactions ranging from enthusiastic praise to outright disgust.
The unusual flavour left some shoppers hesitant even to try them, with one customer posting on social media: “I bought these today, don’t know if I dare try them!”
Others drew comparisons to similar products abroad, with one commenter noting: “I had sweetcorn-flavoured crisps in Turkey and they actually tasted really nice.”
Those who have tried the Corn On The Cob crisps have expressed dramatically different opinions on social media.
Several customers enthusiastically endorsed the product, with comments including, “These taste amazing!” and “Taste quite nice, would recommend”.
One satisfied customer defended the unique flavour, stating: “These do actually taste like corn on the cob.”
However, critics have been equally vocal in their disapproval, with some customers describing them as “absolutely vile”.
Indeed, one disgruntled shopper elaborated: “Not like any corn on the cob I’ve ever eaten.”
The polarising nature of the flavour prompted some shoppers to urge others to reserve judgment, with one fan advising: “Don’t knock them till you have [tried them].”
Despite the mixed reception, the crisps continue to generate interest, with one crisp enthusiast declaring: “I need these in my life!”
Meanwhile, the Hot Dog & Onion variety has also attracted attention, though with less controversy than its corn-flavoured counterpart.
One customer reported a positive experience with these crisps, noting: “They’re pretty good to be fair.”
