Caitlyn Jenner, 75, rejoices as she issues statement after Donald Trump BANS trans athletes from women’s sports

Caitlyn Jenner, 75, has delivered her verdict on US President Donald Trump signing an executive order banning transgender athletes from women’s sports.

The move from the president threatens to cut federal funding for schools that allow trans women to compete in female sports categories.

The order, titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports”, was signed at the White House on Wednesday during a ceremony attended by dozens of children and female athletes.

The move follows recent orders restricting military service and youth healthcare for trans individuals.

The executive order directs federal agencies, including the Department of Justice, to interpret Title IX rules as prohibiting transgender girls and women from participating in female sports categories.

Schools that “let men take over women’s sports teams or invade your locker rooms” will face Education Department investigations for Title IX violations and risk losing their federal funding.

The White House expects all sports bodies, including the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), to change their rules in accordance with the order.

The directive also compels the Departments of State and Homeland Security to review visa policies regarding athletes seeking to compete in women’s sports.

Former Olympian Jenner has voiced strong support for Trump’s executive order on social media platform X.

“Another victory in the fight for protecting women’s sports! President Trump signs an Executive Order keeping biological men out of women’s sports!” Jenner wrote.

The reality star, who came out as a transgender woman in 2015, added: “As an Olympian, I will continue to fight this issue, lobbying sport governing body’s all over the world to follow our lead!”

Jenner, who previously backed Trump’s election victory, had earlier declared that “Hope is back in America” following his return to office.

“With this executive order the war on women’s sports is over,” Trump declared at the White House signing ceremony.

“We will defend the proud tradition of female athletes, and we will not allow men to beat up, injure and cheat our women and our girls,” he stated.

“From now on, women sports will be only for women,” Trump added.

The president also announced plans to pressure the International Olympic Committee to change its rules on transgender athletes before the 2028 Los Angeles Games.

He directed Secretary of State Marco Rubio to “make it clear” to the IOC that “we want them to change everything having to do with this absolutely ridiculous subject.”

There has been public opposition to Trump’s move by notable figures, including trans athlete Chris Mosier who criticised the measures, stating: “Anti-trans school sports bans are difficult to enforce because they rely on sex testing and body policing for implementation and enforcement.”

Mosier added that increased scrutiny on athletes’ bodies “creates serious harm to all women and girls who are perceived as ‘more masculine’ due to being queer, intersex, or otherwise out of alignment with narrow, white-centric norms of femininity.”

Trump has also already signed an order to remove transgender people from the military and effectively ban transgender troops.

He also issued a directive prohibiting gender transitions for people under age 19, including gender-affirming care such as puberty blockers, hormone treatments, and surgical procedures.

Last month, Trump signed an order called “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government” that instructs federal agencies to remove “all radical gender ideology guidance”.
