Sharron Davies hails Donald Trump’s trans athlete ban in fresh demand to Keir Starmer: ‘It’s WOMEN’S sport!’
Former Olympic Swimmer Sharron Davies MBE has called on Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer to follow in the footsteps of Donald Trump and apply “common sense” in banning transgender athletes in women’s sport.
The US President signed an executive order titled “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports” on National Girls and Women in Sports Day, surrounded by female athletes and supporters.
Taking to social media, Davies addressed Starmer directly, calling on him to fulfil previous commitments and “protect” women’s sports.
Davies wrote: “Please Keir Starmer can you now do as you said you would and protect all female athletes here in the UK in sport and stop males from stealing their places, awards amd increasing their risk of injury? Sex in sport really matters.”
Speaking to GB News about her plea to the Prime Minister, Davies declared that the growing issue of transgender athletes in women’s sport is “ruining their dreams” and implored Starmer to use “common sense” and apply similar legislation.
Davies told host Martin Daubney: “I thought it was fantastic to see all those young girls with huge smiling faces. This is the reason I’ve been speaking out.
“I’ve got a daughter who did track and field, I’ve now got a granddaughter who just loves sport, and I couldn’t sit there and watch a whole other generation potentially lose their opportunities.”

Detailing the extent of the issue of transgender athletes in women’s sport in Britain, Davies highlighted that there are “still 50 sports” in the UK which allow “self-identifying” athletes to join teams.
Davies told the People’s Channel: “So basically any male can rock up and start taking on a female in sport, and many of those are actually combat sports. Males will hit 160 per cent harder, so the more explosive an event, the bigger the advantage in Olympic sport is.
“Many mums and dads have been withdrawing their daughters because they don’t want them to get injured and they’re scared to even go to referees and to coaches and say we don’t think this is fair. They’ve been intimidated into having no voices at all, so please do what Trump has done in America.”
Recalling her many years of campaigning for the rights of biological women in sport, Davies stated that it is a “massive problem” for young female athletes, and it is “ruining their dreams”.
Davies concluded: “What people don’t understand is it’s not a small problem, this is a massive problem. It is affecting so many young females and it is ruining their dreams. And I don’t think I’ve seen one mainstream TV station – and well done to you guys because you’ve always been on this case – thank you so much. But not one, Sky, BBC, Channel Four, have ever done a story on the young girl that’s been shoved aside and not had her dream?
“They are constantly doing the poor me on the transgender athlete and it just really got me. This is women’s sport, it was created to give biological females opportunities in the world of sport.”
She added: “Females get 4 per cent of the sponsorship dollar, men get 96 per cent of every single pound or dollar that comes into sport. Our piece of the cake is tiny.
“And then we were told we’re not even allowed to have that. It really was never fair.”
