Prince George ‘having difficult conversations’ with Prince William and Kate as royal provides rare insight
Prince William and Princess Kate are having difficult conversations with Prince George as he gets older as the Prince of Wales provided a rare insight into his parenting of the future king.
The royal revealed he and Princess Kate have begun discussing the Holocaust with their eldest son, Prince George, as the young prince reaches an age of greater understanding.
William provided the insight during Holocaust Memorial Day commemorations on Monday, where he spoke with survivors including Polish-born Alfred Garwood and Bosnian genocide survivor Sabina Kadic-Mackenzie.
“George is getting to the age where he’s starting to understand things. So, it’s getting interesting to talk to him about what happened,” Prince William, 42, shared during the event.
At the Guildhall, the Prince and Princess of Wales joined approximately 50 Holocaust survivors for the commemorative ceremony.
The Princess of Wales shared an emotional reunion with Yvonne Bernstein and Steven Frank, whom she had photographed in 2020.
Kate and Yvonne embraced warmly, with Yvonne stroking the Princess’s arm in gratitude. “It was such a treat for me to come and see an old friend,” Kate remarked.
During the hour-long ceremony, Prince William delivered a powerful reading, stating: “I am honoured to join you today to mark Holocaust Memorial Day and to remember the millions murdered during the Holocaust and in subsequent genocides.”
He continued: “We also remember those survivors who have lived with scars, both mental and physical. Their bravery, in sharing with us the most harrowing moments of their lives, are extremely powerful and ensure that we never forget. I assure them we never will.”
The Prince went on to read from Holocaust Heroes, sharing the story of his great-grandmother, Princess Alice of Battenberg, who protected a Jewish family from the Nazis in Athens.
“It has been a great honour for Catherine and I to join you all today,” William concluded at the ceremony.
