Boy, 2, killed in horror hit-and-run involving stolen car – Two others in critical condition

A two-year-old boy has been killed in a horrific hit-and-run on the outskirts of Birmingham in Smethwick.

Four adults, along with the child, were transported to hospital before the boy tragically died.

A 29-year-old woman and 30-year-old man have remained in a serious condition.

Another man and woman, both aged 30, are stable.

West Midlands Police has appealed to the driver of the vehicle which was involved in the collision “to do the right thing and hand themselves in”.

A full investigation was launched by the force after the fatal collision on Dartmouth road before 11pm on Saturday night.

The motorist driving a grey Porsche Cayenne “fled the scene”, according to a police statement.

The force has said that it believes that the vehicle was travelling from the island on Kenrick Way before it collided with the Toyota.

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Additional checks on the car has revealed that it had been stolen earlier in December.

Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with the family of the little boy at this extremely difficult time.

“I would urge the driver of the Porsche to do the right thing and come and talk to us. They made the wrong decision to run away and I’m asking them now to make the right one.

“I also want to appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn’t already spoken to us, or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch.”

Police have said they have already spoken to witnesses and are working to acquire CCTV footage of the surrounding area.

Dartmouth Road was closed in both directions as specialist reconstruction staff assessed the scene but has since reopened.
