Pensioner left ‘disgusted’ by Labour as thousands face poverty this winter: ‘We’re not being told the TRUTH!’
A pensioner has been left “disgusted” by Labour’s “lies” over their plans for the economy and Winter Fuel Payments, following today’s PMQs.
Following the cut to Winter Fuel Payments, which will impact millions of pensioners across the country, the Government has admitted that up to 100,000 pensioners will be pushed into poverty by the decision.
Speaking to GB News about the latest admission from Labour, pensioner Jo Letchford hit out at the Government, urging them to “come clean” about their true intentions for Britain’s pensioners.
Voicing her concerns to host Martin Daubney, Letchford admitted: “I’m in a possibly a better position than some, where I can perhaps ride that £200 by economising, basically.
“But I watched PMQs at lunchtime, and I feel that we’re just not being told the truth.”
Detailing the figures of the state pension, Letchford explained: “Until 2016, all the pensioners I’m on here to support, we’re on the old state pension, which is just over £9,000. And I have a friend who’s 84 that gets £100 a week, so that’s just over five grand a year.
“Now, the figures they’re giving out is you all got £800 last year, and now you’re getting £400. No, that isn’t the truth. I didn’t get anything like £800 and I won’t get £400.”
Delivering her verdict on PMQs, which was led by Angela Rayner, Letchford claimed she was left “disgusted” by Labour’s performance in the chamber, claiming they were “telling lots of fibs”.
Letchford fumed: “They’re telling lots of fibs. They make it sound as though we’re all on this super duper pension. Why don’t they just come clean?

“I watch PMQs and I’m absolutely disgusted that we’ve got Angela Rayner on there today, she just thinks everything is funny. This isn’t funny. I watch it in a serious manner, and these people are supposed to be running a country.”
Taking aim at Leader of the House of Commons Lucy Powell, Letchford added that she “has more idea of what’s going on” than Labour does.
Letchford told GB News: “Lucy Powell came on when they took the fuel allowance away, which was several months ago. They put her on and she said ‘oh well if we don’t take it away from the pensioners, we’ll have a run on the pound’.
“Now, that’s how knowledgeable these people are that sit on the front bench. I think I’ve got more idea about what’s going on than they have, that is the truth.”
When asked by Martin if she believes Labour are “taking pensioners for granted”, Letchford agreed, stating: “Absolutely. I’ve had to keep my little book since I got married, and the house I’m in, I actually bought every brick in this house. I saved since I was 16 to get this house.
“And thank God I’ve got it, because I’ve been on my own an awfully long time, and I have kept my head above water. I’ve had to work.”
She added: “I voted Tory for a long time. I wasn’t happy, I didn’t want Labour to get in, I’ve been voting Reform, and Labour got in.
“I had no idea that they could make such a mess of things in such a short space of time. It is almost frightening. What are they going to do to us next?”
