Florida boy, 14, breaks into 91-year-old woman’s home before raping her
A 14-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to raping a 91-year-old woman after breaking into her home in Flordia.
Jesse Stone broke into the elderly woman’s home before raping her, in Reddick, Florida on June 9.
The victim, who has not been named, described seeing a “dark shadow” before it “pounced on top of her”, court records stated.
She said that she tried with “all her might” to escape but Stone “beat her head with his fist” before raping her and fleeing.
The 14-year-old boy has been named due to the severity of the crimes and he is now set to be tried as an adult.
Stone initially did not admit to rape but changed his plea on November 7 with investigations closing in on the teenager.
Stone has been charged with one count of sexual assault by someone under 18 years towards a victim over the age of 12 and one count of burglary of a dwelling with battery, court records show.
Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods said: “I told everyone last week that we would find the person responsible, and we have.”
He added: “I’m very proud of the hard work that my detectives and forensics team have done on this case to bring about a quick closure.
“This type of unimaginable violence is still shocking to me after all of my years in law enforcement.”
He thanked the community for their help in leads and tips on the case, which saw the 14-year-old in custody just eight days after the offence.
“The Reddick community has shown its resilience and support for us and their community through all of this,” added Sheriff Woods.
The crime has left the small town of 500 shaken and in shock.
“I wonder what happened to the boy to make him become a monster at 14,” one local said.
Lt Paul Bloom admitted that even the officers in the area were in shock by the teen’s actions.
He said: “This is something that, even to those of us in law enforcement, is still shocking.”
Bloom added: “I think it’s anyone’s worst nightmare an elderly female wakes up to see her attacker coming through the dark.”
Stone’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for December 19.
