Eamonn Holmes tells Man Utd to raid Premier League club for Erik ten Hag replacement: ‘Don’t mess about’
Manchester United should raid a fellow Premier League club for Erik ten Hag’s replacement, GB News star Eamonn Holmes has suggested.
The Dutchman was finally axed after a disappointing start to the season and leaves United 14th in the Premier League.
The club confirmed the Dutchman has “left his role” following Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham.
Ten Hag, who took charge in April 2022, won the Carabao Cup in 2023 and FA Cup in 2024 during his tenure. However, a string of poor performances led to his dismissal.
Former United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined as ten Hag’s assistant this season, has been appointed interim manager until a permanent replacement is found.
Manchester United are reportedly working on a deal to appoint Ruben Amorim as their new head coach. According to David Ornstein of The Athletic, the club is ready to pay a €10m release clause for the 39-year-old Portuguese manager.

Talks are said to be ongoing with Sporting CP to finalise the move. Amorim is reportedly open to accepting the position at Old Trafford.
This development comes just hours after ten Hag’s dismissal, indicating United’s swift action to secure a permanent replacement.
Despite reports linking United to Amorim, GB News star and avid supporter of the club Eamonn Holmes has suggested a different approach.
Eamonn said, “If I was Manchester United, I wouldn’t be piddling about getting 3rd or 4th rate names for a 7th manager since Sir Alex Ferguson”.
Instead, he proposed a more ambitious target. “They need to be going to someone like Unai Emery at Aston Villa. No messing about, go and get someone top notch,” he said.
This recommendation comes as United seek stability following a series of managerial changes since Ferguson’s departure in 2013.
Manchester United’s managerial carousel since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013 has been well-documented. Ten Hag was the sixth permanent manager to take charge at Old Trafford in this period.
His predecessors included David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and Ralf Rangnick (interim).
