NWDC Partners Police to Secure Development Projects In North-West
The North-West Development Commission has initiated a strategic security partnership with the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard its development activities across the region.
Managing Director of the Commission, Professor Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, led a delegation to the Force Headquarters in Abuja where he met with the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tunji Disu.
Professor Ma’aji said the collaboration has become imperative to address security threats hampering field operations and to promote community-based policing.
He explained that officials of the Commission face serious risks while inspecting projects across the seven North-West states, and therefore require reliable security escort to operate effectively.
According to him, enhanced protection would guarantee smooth and safe movement of management teams during monitoring tours.
The NWDC boss also announced that the Commission is prepared to reciprocate the support by assisting the Force with infrastructure and modern operational tools to improve its efficiency in the zone.
In his remarks, the IGP assured the Commission of the Police Force’s readiness to partner with development-focused institutions.
He revealed that he has already instructed Commissioners of Police in all states to provide maximum cooperation and security cover for government agencies to enable them to fulfil their mandates.
Mr. Disu equally praised police personnel deployed in the North-West for demonstrating courage and resilience in tackling insecurity despite operational difficulties.
