Mother of one of the three arrested after a case of firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai has said her son was lured and trapped into committing the crime, alleging that people were exploiting young men to carry out illegal activities under pressure.
Shamshida, mother of accused Rehan from Haryana’s Sonipat, further told reporters that her son had been missing for 20 days before his arrest.
“His mobile phone was taken away. When we called (his number), it was switched off. I suspect he was given some intoxicant and taken along,” she said.
Shamshida said Rehan had been learning welding work in Gurugram to support his family. According to her, a youth from Bihar had told her son that his brother worked as a welder in Gurugram and could teach him the trade, promising him good pay.
She said she did not know the person who had come to their house in a vehicle and taken Rehan away a few days earlier.
“They are using them and getting wrong things done from them under pressure,” PTI quoted her as saying.
However, she did admit that the alleged crime was wrong. “I will say, son, what you have done is not right and (you) should never ever come under anyone’s influence.”
Three arrested in Rajasthan
Rehan and two other accused, including Ritik alias Roshan from Bihar’s Begusarai, were arrested from a train in Rajasthan’s Kota on Monday, a day after the firing at Shroff’s vehicle in Mumbai’s Juhu area.
Mumbai Police, with assistance from Rajasthan Police, tracked the accused after they allegedly fled the scene and travelled to Surat before boarding a Pune-Jaipur train. The arrests were made at Kota railway station.
They were reportedly planning to leave the country and travel to Nepal.
The firing took place at around 7 pm on Sunday near Pushpa Narsee Park in Juhu, when Shroff was returning after playing a football match.
