CJP Protest Jantar Mantar Live Update: Activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram on Wednesday after the Delhi High Court cleared his transfer, with the Centre raising no objection subject to continued medical supervision. His wife, Gitanjali Angmo, welcomed the move and said Wangchuk would continue his indefinite hunger strike in solidarity with students injured during Monday’s clashes near Parliament.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda and Minister of State in the PMO Jitendra Singh visited him at the hospital to enquire about his condition.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi released a direct message to students and the prime minister following his release from detention on Tuesday evening, after being forcibly removed from the sit-in outside Modi’s residence. Delhi Police, separately, registered six FIRs over the violence and vandalism that erupted during the CJP’s Parliament march on Monday, and said they were probing a “larger conspiracy” behind the unrest. Heavy barricading remains in place near Parliament House, including on Rafi Marg.
Amid the standoff, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said students “deserve far better than being treated as props in a political campaign” and accused the Congress of using them as political tools, while reiterating the government’s willingness to discuss NEET-related concerns in Parliament. Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Delhi University both appealed for calm and dialogue, urging that students’ distress not be exploited.
The developments follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertion a day earlier, at a meeting of NDA MPs, that strong action — including 13 arrests — had already been taken against those behind the NEET paper leak, and his call for states to join the Centre in curbing such incidents. The CJP has said it will continue its agitation at Jantar Mantar until its demands, including Pradhan’s resignation, are met.
