Snow Patrol
Tom Beard
Grammy-nominated band Snow Patrol signed a global record deal with BMG that covers the band’s future studio releases. The first release under the deal, the single “These Arms” with Kylie Minogue, dropped on July 1. Notably, the band recorded the track for its 2024 album, The Forest Is the Path, but held it back until they could record it with the pop star.
Alistair Norbury, president of the UK, Continental Europe and APAC at BMG, said in a statement: “Snow Patrol are one of the great songwriting bands of their generation. There’s a rare consistency to their work — songs built on emotional honesty that continue to resonate around the world. At BMG, we’re focused on long-term artist partnerships, and we’re proud to work with the band as they focus on new music and enter their next creative chapter.”
“We are delighted to be working with BMG,” added Snow Patrol. “We’ve known Alistair and his team for a long time and he and everyone at the label have always been enthusiastic supporters and champions of music and creativity. We’re excited about working together on new SP music. We can’t wait to get started.”
BMG additionally represents the music publishing interests of Snow Patrol members Gary Lightbody and Nathan Connolly. The band was previously signed to Polydor.
Since forming in the mid-1990s, Snow Patrol has released eight albums, including the RIAA platinum-certified Eyes Open and the gold-certified Final Straw. The band has also enjoyed four entries on the Billboard Hot 100, including the No. 5 hit “Chasing Cars” from 2006. It has additionally charted two albums in the top 10 of the Billboard 200: 2008’s A Hundred Million Suns (No. 9) and 2012’s Fallen Empires (No. 5). — Chris Eggertsen

BORE, Wounded Touch (Ferret Music)
Previously defunct indie metal and hardcore label Ferret Music — known for releasing albums by artists such as Coverage, Disembodied and Killswitch Engage in its previous iteration — relaunched with two acts: BORE and Wounded Touch.
“I started Ferret as a way to be more a part of hardcore,” said Ferret Music co-founder Carl Severson, who will also helm this iteration of the label. “My friends all had talent and were in a band (Endeavor, Ferret 01) and I wanted to do more than carry things to contribute to what they were doing. It was a passion that turned into a life and into a career. For the vast majority of its initial existence I worked with my friends, worked with bands we loved listening to and it was just honestly an adventure. We grew and eventually saw behind the curtain and ventured beyond it. Things changed. My friends didn’t, and we still love listening… So here we are.”
Along with his work at Ferret, Severson will continue working with Good Fight Music, which boasts artists including Great American Ghost and Denial of Life Johnny Booth on its roster.
“Ferret was a label we always looked up to,” said Danny Kopij of BORE. “From Cult Classic to Hot Damn! to A Great Artist to Versions and so on, the music that Carl, Rick and everyone else curated over the years became intertwined with our musical DNA. So to get to be a part of the Ferret family, let alone to get to be here for the revival is nothing short of the honor of a lifetime. Looking forward to this next chapter of our band and to get to do it Ferret Style.”
Wounded Touch vocalist Nick Holland added, “Any time someone has asked us “who would your ideal label be to sign to,” we always would include Ferret to not only be smartasses, but out of legitimate sincerity as they were always the holy grail label of our youth. Most of our childhoods were shaped by the Ferret catalogue, so we’d have been championing this return out of sheer excitement regardless. But to instead get to be directly involved as boots on the ground for the return of Ferret and count ourselves among the pantheon of genre defining records released under that name is a validation that can’t be bought, traded or diminished. We’ll do everything in our power to earn the privilege of being asked to be a part of it and to be at the forefront of this return.” — Chris Eggertsen

Charlie Worsham (ONErpm)

Image Credit: PJ Brown / Courtesy of Missing Piece Group Singer-songwriter Charlie Worsham signed a distribution agreement with ONErpm for his upcoming independent album, Once Upon a Second Time Around, out Aug. 7. Worsham also just released two new musical versions of his single, “Wrap My Porch Around,” including a bluegrass version accompanied by The Travelin’ McCourys.
ONErpm managing director for Nashville Mike Easterlin said in a statement, “Charlie is one of the most respected musicians, songwriters, and artists in Nashville. His talent, authenticity, and unwavering commitment to his craft have earned him the admiration of both fans and his peers. Everyone at ONErpm is honored that Charlie has chosen us as his partner, and we’re excited to support the next chapter of an already remarkable career.”
Worsham added, “A few weeks ago, I sat down to breakfast with Mike Easterlin and my management team, knowing there was a chance we’d partner on the release of Once Upon A Second Time Around. We spent the morning talking about family, the perspective that comes with time in this business, mentors, and what really matters. What struck me most was what we didn’t talk about. We never picked apart the music. It was simply understood that the music was the foundation, and the goal was to support it and give it every opportunity to find its audience.”
Worsham added, “So much of my 20 years in Nashville has felt like jumping through hoops just to get the music out into the world. To work with a partner who trusts me — and who believes in serving the songs instead of second-guessing them — means everything. I admire Mike’s hard-earned experience, and I love locking arms with people who are willing to bet on great music. I’m grateful to be starting this next chapter with ONErpm and excited for what’s ahead.”

Macy Todd (Atlantic Outpost)

Image Credit: Sophia Matinazad Nashville-based singer-songwriter Macy Todd signed to Atlantic Outpost, which released her debut EP, pretty ruthless.
“There are moments that make everything feel real, and signing with Atlantic Outpost was one of them,” Todd said in a statement. “I’m incredibly grateful to have a team that believes in me and these songs as much as I do. It feels like such a special time to be part of what Outpost is building, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead. The day I signed, my dad surprised me with Roberta Flack’s First Take and Killing Me Softly on vinyl. We used to listen to those records together when I was growing up, and I remember seeing the Atlantic logo on those albums long before I ever imagined my name would be connected to it. It was one of those full-circle moments I’ll never forget. I grew up admiring so many of the artists who helped shape Atlantic’s legacy, and getting to be a small part of that story is something I’ll never take for granted.”
