THERE ARE FEW collabs that I’ve been more excited for than Chris Bumstead’s Unfinished collection with Gymshark. And few that have seemed more natural. For starters, not many people have spent more time in the gym than the 6x Mr. Olympia, who has been credited with being “the greatest Classic bodybuilder of all-time,” by none other than Ronnie Coleman. On top of that, Bumstead has been repping Gymshark on his own for years, before recently joining the team officially.
In my Men’s Health Six Pack chat with Bumstead, he admitted that he has been wearing their 7-inch Sport Shorts all day, every day of the week for the past decade. “Even when I travel, I will pack one pair of jeans and maybe 10 pairs of my Gymshark shorts,” he told me. “They are so light and they have the zippered pockets that I can use to keep my stuff secure when I’m on the move.”
So this collaboration started how all great collaborations start, with mutual admiration. Having worn a number of the pieces from Unfinished for the past few weeks, I can confirm that my excitement towards the announcement was not misplaced. What makes it even more compelling is a price point that can’t be beat for this kind of quality.

My Impressions of the Gymshark x Chris Bumstead ‘Unfinished’ Collection
I was sent several items from the collab before it was released, and they were delivered in the typical Gymshark fashion: packaged neatly into individual zip bags, keeping each piece crisp and clean. To be honest, the weight and the aesthetic of every single item impressed me. The materials are soft, the fits are comfortable, the stitching is solid, and the silhouettes are spot on.
The first item that stood out to me immediately was the Workwear Jacket, because of its heft and crafted look. I was a fan of this jacket from the jump, and luckily enough I was on my way out to a friend’s farm to do a little work, meaning I had the perfect testing ground outside of the gym. It was more than up to the task in both durability and practicality. The Washed Hoodie provides a similar heft and comfort.
I’ve been able to find regular uses for both the Straight Leg Joggers and Pumper Pants. The team did an excellent job of creating relaxed fits that give you room for every movement you want to hit in the gym, and provide enough style that you can wear them out on errands after your lift. The Gymshark Sport Shorts in this collection are very similar to what has been in the store for years, but the perforations are a nice touch, giving a little more breathability and a unique look.
The two shirts that I received, the Washed Sleeveless and T-Shirt were the perfect middle-ground between form-fitting and oversized. The shirts are heavy, and give you that feeling that you’re wearing something that can take a beating and stick with you through your grittiest training sessions. I think I can say without hesitation that this is my favorite collab I’ve tested in the past few years.
