Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects worth approximately ₹ 33,500 crore in Delhi on March 8.
A key highlight includes Delhi Metro expansions worth ₹ 18,300 crore. PM Modi will inaugurate two new corridors: the 12.3 km Majlis Park-Maujpur Babarpur section on the Pink Line and the 9.9 km Deepali Chowk-Majlis Park stretch on the Magenta Line.
These will enhance connectivity in areas such as Burari, Jagatpur-Wazirabad, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, Yamuna Vihar, Madhuban Chowk, Haiderpur Badli Mor, Bhalaswa, and Majlis Park.
PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for three new corridors under Delhi Metro Phase V-A, covering 16.1 km: RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha, Aerocity to Indira Gandhi Airport Terminal-1, and Tughlakabad to Kalindi Kunj. The new lines aim to strengthen connectivity between Noida, South Delhi, and the airport.
The PM will also lay the foundation stone for projects worth ₹ 15,200 crore under the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Redevelopment Plan. Spread across Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar, and Sriniwaspuri, the initiative will provide over 9,350 modern flats for government employees and create around 48 lakh square feet of office space.
PM Modi is scheduled to visit the GPRA Type-5 quarters in Sarojini Nagar to hand over keys to female allottees.
“The projects have been redeveloped through an innovative self-sustainable financial model that ensures the redevelopment is carried out without burdening the public exchequer. Under this model, the government is developing and monetising a limited portion of the project area for commercial and residential space to finance the entire project. The revenue generated from it is being used to fund the redevelopment of modern government housing, supporting infrastructure and public facilities,” reads an official press release.
