A “fresh start” for the fighter
Season 3 for Tekken 8 has been officially announced, and Bandai Namco wants it to be a “fresh start” for the fighter.
As you may already know, the game’s big Season 2 update — which launched in the spring of last year — made controversial changes to the game’s balance, buffing systems and mechanics that some players felt were already overtuned.
Some of those adjustments have been reworked since, but the general sentiment is that Tekken 8 needs a bit of a reset — and it sounds like it’s getting one.
We don’t have the details yet, but the developer’s promising a “back to basics” approach, with a refocus on more “deliberate” gameplay.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see combo length be shortened, for example, and aggressive play to be scaled back so that the title better resembles past Tekken games.
The Season 3 update will release on 16th / 17th March (depending on your timezone).

And of course, Season 3 will bring its own set of new DLC characters. Three of them have been revealed right off the bat, and they’re all returning favourites:
- Kunimitsu – releases late spring
- Bob – releases summer
- Roger Jr. – releases autumn / fall
A fourth character will also be included — whose identity remains a mystery for now — and they’re launching in winter.

He still takes his fighting games seriously, but RPGs are his true passion. The Witcher, Persona, Dragon Quest, Mass Effect, Final Fantasy, Trails, Tales — he’s played ’em all. A little too much, some might say.
