‘Marriage is an institution between a MAN and a WOMAN’: Michael Knowles speaks out on being attacked for his comments
Daily Wire host Michael Knowles has hit back at critics of his divisive comments made at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, USA.
Speaking at the CPAC event, Knowles claimed that marriage is an “institution” which is shared by “a man and a woman”.
He argued that marriage does not and cannot include unions between “a couple of men, or a couple of women, or three men and a billy goat”.
Knowles claimed: “Marriage is and always has been the union of a man and a woman, ordered toward the procreation and education of children. If you don’t like that, don’t blame me. I didn’t set the rules. It wasn’t the mean old conservatives who did this; we did not invent marriage. Marriage is a natural institution.”
Following Knowles’s comments at the event, US President Joe Biden’s campaign team posted on social media: “Top Trump advocate at CPAC echos MAGA’s Project 2025 plan to go after marriage equality during a second Trump term: Marriage is a man and a woman.”
Knowles hit back at the post on social media pointing out that Biden said in 2006 that “marriage is between a man and a woman”.
Discussing the backlash towards his comments by the Biden administration, Knowles told GBN America that his claim was “shocking” for some people to hear.
Knowles admitted that he thought other comments made at CPAC were what the “liberals would take greater issue with”, such as immigration issues.
Knowles told host Patrick Christys: “I claimed that America has not always been a nation of immigrants. I’ve claimed that diversity is not always our strength. I thought they might focus on that.

“But no, they focused on my audacious claim, which statistically every single person on earth has believed in forever, everywhere, which is that marriage involves a man and a woman.”
Knowles explained: “It was very strange because the Biden campaign attacked me for this, and then the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, attacked me for this.
“But the fact that the criticism would come out of the Biden White House was strange because Joe Biden himself agreed with everything I said until about 2011.”
While running for the White House with Barack Obama in 2008, Biden said in a debate against Sarah Palin that he didn’t support gay marriage.
Biden told the debate: “Barack Obama nor I support redefining from a civil side what constitutes marriage.”
The US President’s stance on marriage appeared to change after the Supreme Court ruling in 2015, protecting the union of same-sex couples as a marriage under the Constitution.
Biden said at the time: “Deciding whether to marry, who to marry is one of the most profound decisions a person can make.
“Marriage is a simple proposition: Who do you love, and will you be loyal with that person you love? It’s not more complicated than that.”
