Keir Starmer accused of ‘dipping into pockets’ of Britons amid fresh energy bills hike: ‘He’s deranged!’
Commentator Mike Parry has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer over rising energy costs, accusing him of making empty promises to the British public.
Speaking on GB News, Parry said: “I think sometimes, Keir Starmer sounds as though he is deranged.
“To actually say in his New Year broadcast, I’m going to put more cash in your pocket, we know that was never going to happen.”
Britons will begin 2025 with further financial strain, as energy bills will rise for millions of households across Britain from January 1.
The new Ofgem price cap sets average dual fuel household bills paid by direct debit at £1,738 per year, up from £1,717.
The new price cap will remain in place for three months, with Ofgem set to announce the next adjustment on February 25.
Parry accused the Prime Minister of going back on his word about treading more lightly on people’s lives.
“He’s treading more heavily on our lives and he is dipping into our pockets,” Parry told GB News.
Parry also criticised broader cost increases, highlighting a rise in air passenger duty.

“Didn’t I read between Christmas and the New Year that the air tax is going up?” he said.
He particularly objected to the £1,000 per person tax on private jets, stating: “I think is an outrage because wealthy people make the world go round and we need them.”
The commentator expressed concerns about renewable energy infrastructure during a recent journey to northern England.
“Staring out of the window of my first class seat, I suddenly zoomed past these huge amounts of fields with all these solar panels in them. They’re hideous,” he said.
Parry went on to criticise Labour Party policies, claiming they were “costing us money” and “taking our country backwards.” He disputed earlier promises made by Labour figures regarding energy costs.
“We heard from Ed Miliband, did we not that all bills were going to be cut by £300, that’s gone completely upside down now,” he said. According to Parry, costs are set to expand by “nearly £500.”
He claimed this increase affects elderly residents who have “had the winter fuel allowance taken off them.” The commentator warned of further financial pressures ahead.
“In the next week, the fees of private schools will go up and people will have to start taking their children out of their schools,” he said.
He went on to describe Labour’s current policies as “pernicious and nasty.”
