‘Donald Trump will NEVER be president’: How so many US elites were blind to the voice of the silent majority
Liberal American elites have been left red faced after a video showing their repeated, confident and derisory claims ‘Donald Trump will never be president’ has resurfaced.
The montage shows many famous faces from the American left dismissing any chance of a Trump election, laughing and scoffing at the very possibility.
Nancy Pelosi, for example, said: “Donald Trump is not going to be president of the United States, he is not. Take it to the bank, I guarantee it.”
And in a separate interview: “Donald Trump is a here today gone tomorrow candidate. He is not going to be President of the United States.”
Trump triumphed over Democrat Kamala Harris in the recent US elections, winning all seven of the swing states and the popular vote to complete a landslide victory.
The win blindsided much of the liberal elite with pollsters and commentators predicting a comfortable Harris win in America and Britain.
Tom Hanks meanwhile said: “I think that man will be president of the Unites States right about the time spaceships comes down filled with dinosaurs and red capes. Take it from me!”
Seth Myers, the comedian and TV host, said: “Donald Trump has been saying he’s going to run for President as a republican, which is surprising as I thought he was running as a joke.”
Former President Barack Obama, when asked if he could imagine Trump giving a state on union address, laughed and said: “I can imagine it in a Saturday night skit.
In a separate interview he confirmed: “I continue to believe Donald Trump will not be President.”
The two term Democrat president also responded to a tweet from Donald Trump saying ‘Obama would go down as the worst president in the history of the United States’.
He said: “Well, Donald Trump, at least I will go down as a President.”
Trump’s recent win was just the second time in history someone has won non-consecutive terms in office.
The first was Grover Cleveland, who did two stints in the White House from 1885-1889 and 1893-1897.

Right wing commentators have called his turnaround ‘the greatest comeback in political history’ and point to his steely determination and stamina aged 78.
Bob Beckel, CNN political commentator, said: “Let me tell you one thing, this race is over. Tomorrow morning the money will dry up, the Republicans will start to hide, Trump has no where to go, this race is no longer a presidential race.
“Everything I know about Presidential politics, and I’ve been through five of them, I’ve never seen one like this. This race is over, you might as well accept it, and the question now is how you minimise damage.”
Many US voters and commentators have highlighted Trump’s ability to come across as a man of the people as a major success in his victory.
While Harris brought out Oprah Winfrey on stage and enjoyed endorsements from droves of a-list celebrities, Trump spent time working in McDonalds and drove a garbage truck.
His focus on the economy and immigration appeared to resonate more with voters than Harris’s campaign, some of which centred on abortion rights and simply painting Trump as the bad guy.
Donald Trump will be inaugurated as President on January 20, 2025.
