XL bully dog brutally mauls unsuspecting woman ‘severing her ear and scalp’
An XL bully dog has brutally mauled an unsuspecting woman and ‘severed’ her ear and scalp.
The 38-year-old woman from Reading has been left “absolutely traumatised” after the vicious attack.
The incident occurred on October 23, near Northumberland Avenue in Whitley.
The victim, who had just alighted from a bus, was attacked from behind by the beast.
The assault was so severe that the animal latched onto the side of her head, severing her ear and scalp.
In her attempt to fend off the dog, the woman’s hand was also bitten.
She was rushed to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where she has undergone three surgeries to repair her hand, reattach her ear, and reconstruct her scalp.
John-Paul Dapp, the victim’s brother, described his sister’s condition as “serious” and expressed anger over the incident.

He revealed that the dog and its owner had been reported at least five times previously.
“We are all very angry,” Dapp said. “We know from a local neighbouring resident in the Whitley Estate that the dog and the owner has been reported at least five times previously so this could have been so easily prevented if the police took those reports seriously.”
Doctors noted that had the dog bitten 2mm deeper into the woman’s head, the consequences could have been far worse.
Despite her ordeal, the victim, an animal lover, reportedly bears no ill will towards the dog.
Her brother stated: “She said that this could have happened with any breed of dog because if poorly trained every dog is dangerous.”
The police have informed the family that the dog has been taken to a kennel to be “destroyed”.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail.
Footage of the attack, captured by a passer-by, has been handed over to the police to aid their investigation.
