Six men have been arrested at HMP Fosse Way after an inmate was found dead, with police officers swiftly launching an investigation. <\/p>\n

Leicestershire Police said they were called to the Category C prison after a 31-year-old man was found unresponsive in his cell.<\/p>\n

The prisoner, understood to be Mahir Abdulrahman, was due to be released on Tuesday but attacked another inmate a day prior. <\/p>\n

Abdulrahman chucked boiling water at a fellow prisoner – known as \u201ckettling\u201d, The Telegraph reports. Following the incident, Abdulrahman was not moved from his cell.<\/p>\n

To get revenge, four other prisoners tossed boiling water at him before \u201cbeating him to a pulp\u201d, \u00ada source within the jail told The Times.<\/p>\n

The source said: \u201cOne lad kicked him in the head on the way out and broke his neck.\u201d <\/p>\n

They added that they were confused as to why Abdulrahman had not been moved to a cell.<\/p>\n

Officers said that his death is currently being treated as unexplained.<\/p>\n

A spokesman for Serco, which manages the facility, said: \u201cWe can confirm that a 31-year-old man has died at Fosse Way prison.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe matter is now being investigated by Leicestershire Police.\u201d<\/p>\n

The prison, which is located in Tigers Way, Glen Parva, holds up to 1,715 inmates which are deemed to be of a lower risk.<\/p>\n

It is designed to follow the blueprint of HMP Five Wells, which the Ministry of Justice said aimed to \u201cboost security, rehabilitate offenders and protect by helping prisoners find work\u201d.<\/p>\n

HMP Fosse Way is an extremely overcrowded prison, with 1,697 of its 1,715 beds filled.<\/p>\n

It has been hailed as Britain\u2019s \u201cgreenest ever\u201d prison. It has been compared to a hotel, and its cells have barless windows and computers that double as TVs.<\/p>\n
