Ryanair flight forced to U-turn just minutes into Dublin flight after ‘minor’ issue sparks delay

A Ryanair flight bound for Dublin has been forced to return to Glasgow International Airport after experiencing technical difficulties mid-flight.

Flight FR275, which departed Glasgow for the Irish capital yesterday morning, had to make an unscheduled return landing due to what the airline described as a “minor technical issue”.

All passengers landed safely at Glasgow airport, where arrangements were swiftly made to transfer them to a replacement aircraft.

The flight had initially departed six minutes ahead of its scheduled 7.25am departure time yesterday.

The aircraft returned to Glasgow, touching down at 8.04am after pilots were alerted to the technical problem.

A passenger aboard the flight told the Irish Mirror that they were informed of an engine problem.

The aircraft was deemed unable to fly for the remainder of the day.

A Ryanair spokesman addressed the incident, telling the Irish Mirror: “This flight from Glasgow to Dublin (January 31) returned to Glasgow due to a minor technical issue with the aircraft.”

The airline moved quickly to minimise disruption for affected passengers.

“To minimise disruption, we quickly arranged for a replacement aircraft to operate this flight to Dublin, which departed later this morning,” the spokesman added.

The replacement service successfully transported passengers to their destination following the morning’s disruption.

One person close to the situation wrote on X: “I think that Ryanair to Dublin flight out of Glasgow has just suffered a bird strike or compressor stall.”
