Police issue urgent appeal after man dies when his e-bike collided with a BMW
Lancashire Constabulary has launched an appeal following the death of an electric bike rider in Burnley yesterday.
Officers were called late last night following reports of a road traffic collision.
Upon arriving at the scene, they found a white BMW 1 series had been in a collision with an off-road e-bike.
The rider of the bike – a 35-year-old man – had suffered serious injuries and, despite the best efforts of medical staff, he was later pronounced dead at hospital.
A 34-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, and now remains in custody.
Sergeant Rebecca Price, of Lancashire Police’s Road Policing Unit, said her thoughts were with the 35-year-old’s family and loved ones, and that they are now investigating.
She added: “We are appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or the actions of either of the vehicles beforehand to come forward.
“I am also appealing for anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist us to please get in touch.”
