‘Kate and William more important than Charles to Royal Family’ – Lauren Chen
The Blaze TV host Lauren Chen has suggested that Prince William and Princess Kate are “more important” to the Royal Family than King Charles, as two senior royals remain absent from public duties.
King Charles is currently being treated for “a form of cancer” and the Princess of Wales is recovering from a planned abdominal procedure at Adelaide Cottage, meaning both are not working until they are back to full health.
Prince William and Queen Camilla have stepped up their diary of engagements in their absence, as well as the Duchess of Edinburgh.
However, speculation has been rife as to the condition of the Princess of Wales, following the King’s candid and public statements on his health.
The monarch recently told Prime Minister Rishi Sunak he was “reduced to tears” by the overwhelming support.
Kensington Palace has remained stern about the Princess’s condition, reaffirming she will not return to duties until “after Easter”.
Discussing the growing concerns for the Princess and the pressure on Prince William to look after both the monarchy and his family, Lauren Chen told GBN America that popularity for the royal couple as future King and Queen has succeeded that of King Charles.
Chen told host Mark Dolan that Prince William is “not just representing himself and his family, but really the nation” in recent months.
However, Chen noted it is “very understandable” that Prince William’s priority is Kate and their children as she recovers from surgery.
Chen told GBN America: “We know that he’s going to be ascending to the throne sooner rather than later, perhaps, depending on the King’s health.

“I hate to almost cast a dark shadow over this, but it’s simply true. Kate Middleton has been a huge part of the royal presence, especially since Meghan and Harry have left, so it goes to show how much the British public is looking to them for representation of their country.”
Chen added that there is “so much public affinity” for the Prince and Princess of Wales as they are “the next strong pillars of the Royal Family, like Queen Elizabeth was before them”.
She praised the royal couple and said their presence in the monarchy can provide “consistency, longevity and stability to the throne”.
Discussing Princess Kate’s current health condition and the lack of transparency from Kensington Palace, Chen urged Prince William to “provide an update” himself on how Kate is doing in her recovery.
Chen explained: “It’s perhaps understandable that he didn’t attend the memorial service for the late King Constantine of Greece, but I don’t blame people who are starting to wonder, if things really are that bad with Kate Middleton that her husband is unable to perform his duties, perhaps we should have an update.
“Obviously we expect privacy for the royals when it comes to serious matters, but I think ultimately this just goes to show how important Kate and William specifically have become to the Royal Family.”
