Jimmy Kimmel rips into Donald Trump as Oscars host delivers brutal response to review from ex-President
Oscars 2024 host Jimmy Kimmel pulled no punches during Sunday’s ceremony when he spotted Donald Trump had shared his thoughts on the proceedings.
The former US President wasn’t in attendance at the star-studded Hollywood event but took to social media platform Truth instead to share his verdict.
Trump savagely critiqued: “Has there EVER been a WORSE HOST than Jimmy Kimmel at The Oscars?
“His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.
“Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous.
“Also a really bad politically correct show tonight, and for years – Disjointed, boring, and very unfair. Why don’t they just give the Oscars to those that deserve them.

“Maybe that way their audience and TV ratings will come back from the depths. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” (sic)
Not letting Trump’s criticism slide, Kimmel took a moment during the live event to address what the former President had to say.
Shortly after Emma Stone was awarded the gong for Best Actress in a Leading Role, Kimmel returned to the stage and said: “Doing this show is not about me and I appreciate you having me but it’s really about you and Emma, and all these great actors and actresses and filmmakers…
“But I was told that we had an extra minute and I’m really proud of something and I was wondering if I could share it with you. I just got a review…”
The audience chuckled as Kimmel read aloud the review left by Trump on social media before he turned to the A-listers in the front row.
“Okay, see if you can guess which former President posted that on Truth,” Kimmel said. “Anyone? No?”
He then broke the façade to deliver the comeback: “Well, thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching, I’m surprised you’re (still up), isn’t it past your jail time?”
The quip prompted laughter from a number of actors and actresses in attendance before a round of applause broke out in the theatre.

It wasn’t the first time during the evening that Kimmel had caused quite a stir with his hosting stint.
During his opening monologue, Kimmel was slammed for poking fun at Robert Downey Jr’s history with drug use.
He also made a crude remark about Robert De Niro’s age gap with his 45-year-old girlfriend.
The big winner on the evening was Oppenheimer, with actors Cillian Murphy and Downey Jr winning their respective actor categories while the film itself won Best Picture and Christopher Nolan won Best Director.
