Dr Shola sparks outrage as she brands the Auschwitz Memorial ‘an embarrassment to humanity’
Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu has been branded “vile”, “arrogant” and “shameful” after she slammed the Auschwitz Memorial in a social media post.
The activist, who regularly appears on screens on the likes of Jeremy Vine and This Morning, claimed to have unfollowed the Auschwitz Memorial X account after it expressed its solidarity with Israel following Hamas’ attacks on October 7.
The Auschwitz Memorial took to the social media platform formerly known as Twitter to ask its followers to continue to engage with the account and “keep the memory” of those tragically lost during World War II alive.
Its post read: “Our account has lost over 7,000 followers in December. We continue to ask for your engagement. You create this incredible community and help us keep the memory alive. Support @AuschwitzMuseum and amplify our voice.”
Claiming to be one of those who unfollowed, Dr Shola replied: “I unfollowed you after your disgraceful endorsement of Israel’s extermination, ethnic cleansing & genocide of Palestinians.
“The museum should be ashamed of itself,” she went on. “Never again means never again for anyone. You’re an embarrassment to humanity.
“My commitment to ending injustice will never be compromised,” she signed off followed by the hashtag: “#FreePalestineFromApartheidIsrael.”
Dr Shola’s blistering take on the memorial came after it released a statement in November throwing its support behind Israel amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The statement read: “The International Auschwitz Council by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland acknowledges with the deepest pain and sorrow the suffering of innocent Victims – tortured, raped, taken hostage, and murdered by Hamas terrorists.
“We wish to express our unwavering solidarity with Israelis and Jews worldwide.
I unfollowed you after your disgraceful endorsement of Israel’s extermination, ethnic cleansing & genocide of Palestinians. The museum should be ashamed of itself.
Never again means never again for anyone. You’re an embarrassment to humanity.
My commitment to ending injustice…

“Threatened in its existence, the State of Israel has the right to self-defence in accordance with international law and the principles of humanitarianism. The existence of a free, sovereign, and democratic Jewish State is one of the pillars of world peace.
“The unimaginable hatred and violence perpetrated by terrorists only results in extensive and more widespread suffering – affecting also the civilian population of Gaza, whom Hamas exploits as human shields.
“An essential first step to halt the horrifying spiral of death and war is the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages, a demand we make with all our might.”
Dr Shola’s subsequent tirade against the Auschwitz Memorial sparked widespread outrage from fellow X users who condemned her rant against the historic museum and community.

“A Holocaust museum is an embarrassment to humanity? You might want to take a glance in the mirror,” one X user fumed while a second hit out: “You’d type anything for ragebait. I feel sorry for you. Your family must be so ashamed.”
Meanwhile, a third raged: “Imagine making this post to the Auschwitz Museum and somehow thinking it’s not coming across as deep dark hate. Outright arrogance with zero self-awareness.”
“Only one embarrassment in this conversation – and it’s certainly not the @AuschwitzMuseum!!” a fourth blasted while a fifth said: “Demonstrating zero understanding of the Israel/Palestine conflict whilst picking a Twitter fight with… the Auschwitz Museum. Cracking start to the year Doc.”
And a sixth similarly slammed the remarks as they weighed in: “Dr Shola being as asinine as ever, picking a fight with the Auschwitz Museum. Will she ever get tired of constantly being ridiculous and angry all the time?”
