Virgin Atlantic announces new routes from the UK to winter sun destinations with beautiful beaches and historical attractions
Virgin Atlantic has announced the launch of new direct flights between London Heathrow and Cancun, marking its return to the Mexican holiday destination.
The service, set to begin on October 19, 2025, will be the only direct route from London Heathrow to the popular resort city.
Passengers will travel aboard the Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, offering access to Mexico’s renowned beaches, cultural sites and historic attractions.
The new route will connect travellers to the wider Riviera Maya region, including destinations such as Playa del Carmen and Tulum.
Visitors can explore world-class beaches, experience lively nightlife, visit Mayan ruins, and participate in eco-tourism activities throughout the region.
The new flights will operate three times weekly on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Departures from London Heathrow are scheduled for 10:10am, arriving in Cancun at 4:15pm local time.
Return flights will depart Cancun at 6:45pm, landing at Heathrow the following morning at 9:05am. Economy fares for the new route will start from £562 per person for a round trip.
Passengers can book their flights from December 4, 2024, when tickets go on sale. The service offers travellers direct access to Mexico’s Caribbean coast, eliminating the need for connections at other European or North American hubs.
The new service will provide seamless connections with Aeromexico and LATAM Airlines, expanding travel possibilities across Central and South America.
Passengers can connect to major cities including Mexico City, Santiago, Buenos Aires, and Lima through these airline partnerships.
The route enhances Virgin Atlantic’s network in the Americas, offering more options for both leisure and business travellers.
Virgin Red members will benefit from the new service with opportunities to earn and redeem Virgin Points.
Points can be earned across multiple touchpoints, including flights, holiday packages and onboard purchases.
