Teen girl killed in ‘XL Bully mauling’ named after ‘incredibly rare’ attack in Bristol flat
A teenager who was killed by a suspected XL bully dog in Bristol has been named as 19-year-old Morgan Dorsett from Shropshire.
The young woman died following an attack at a flat in the Hartcliffe area of the city on February 26.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed her identity, though formal identification procedures have not yet been completed.
The dog believed to be responsible for the fatal attack has since been put down.
The attack took place in a flat on Cobhorn Drive at 7:19pm on Wednesday.
Emergency services attended the scene but were unable to save Dorsett despite their best efforts.
Police said that while initial reports suggested the dog “may be an XL Bully”, work to confirm the exact breed is ongoing.
The animal has been euthanised as part of the investigation.
Dorsett’s family are being supported by a specially trained officer during this difficult time.

A man and a woman, both in their 20s, were arrested following the incident on suspicion of serious offences related to the dog attack.
They have since been released on conditional police bail while the investigation continues.
The pair were detained on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death.
They also face allegations of possession of a prohibited breed of dog.
No further details about the suspects have been released by authorities at this time.
