The launch model will come with a three-year complimentary subscription package, including various features and functionality.
Online reservations are now open in California with a fully refundable $200 (£160) deposit.
The Afeela 1 is being developed with a target driving range of up to 300 miles on a single charge.
It will also showcase a “minimalist” exterior design with hidden door handles and a completely flush front end. Inside, the vehicle features a distinctive half-yoke steering wheel and a digital rear-view mirror.
Blending the best of both brands, the EV will feature a large touchscreen display that spans the width of the dashboard.
The interior employs high-quality functional materials, with approximately 70 per cent of the surface area using plant-derived and recycled materials.
Sony Honda Mobility said it had designed the cabin around an “Oval” concept, emphasising “harmonious and timeless” aesthetics throughout.
The vehicle is equipped with 40 sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, radars, and ultrasonic sensors, to enhance safety and collect data from its surroundings. It will also utilise artificial intelligence.
The vehicle features Sony’s proprietary noise-cancelling technology and 360 Spatial Sound Technologies for an enhanced audio experience.
Yasuhide Mizuno, Chairperson and CEO at Sony Honda Mobility, said: “Sony Honda Mobility strives to evolve relationships with people through intelligent mobility and revolutionise the travel experience. We are very pleased to unveil Afeela 1, developed for the era of autonomous driving, at CES 2025.
“Afeela 1 can be called a buddy, combining advanced software with meticulously refined hardware.
