Robbie Williams makes tragic admission on parents’ health: ‘I don’t really know how to do it’

Robbie Williams has opened up about his struggles to cope with both his parents’ serious illnesses.

The 50-year-old singer is facing the emotional challenge of his mother Janet’s dementia diagnosis, while his father Pete battles Parkinson’s disease.

The former Take That star has admitted he’s finding it difficult to handle the situation with his elderly parents, as both conditions continue to impact their lives.

In a candid admission, Williams revealed his difficulty in managing the situation.

“The truth is that I’m very busy and I’m not dealing with the situation as I should,” the singer told The Mirror, adding: “I don’t really know how to do it, it’s an incredibly complicated thing.”

He added carefully: “We are all human beings, with our difficulties, and I am trying to deal with mine.”

The star expressed reluctance to share more details, concerned about how his parents might react to his public comments.

Williams first spoke about his mother Janet’s illness in November, coinciding with the promotion of his new film Better Man.

In a cruel twist of fate, the biopic portrays his loving relationship with his late grandmother – who also suffered from dementia.

Speaking about his father’s diagnosis during the 2020 lockdown, Williams revealed the strain of family separation.

“We’ve got a lot of family issues right now, my dad has got Parkinson’s, my mother-in-law who I love dearly has got a very big illness, we can’t get to them,” he shared.

The distance has been particularly challenging, with Williams noting: “My dad is thousands and thousands of miles away.

“My mum is just a year short of 80 and she’s in isolation and I can see the things whirling in her mind and her eyes going.”

In a recent interview with Vanity Fair Italy, Williams revealed that getting married was his life’s biggest gamble.

“The biggest gamble of my life? Marrying my wife, I couldn’t keep my penis in my pants,” he candidly shared.

The singer explained his decision: “Getting married was more or less a way of embracing a monogamous lifestyle.”

He also acknowledged the financial risks involved: “I also knew that I could lose half of everything I had earned. That’s why, in practical terms, that was the biggest gamble.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

William’s biopic, Better Man is being directed by The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey.

The unusual approach sees main character “Robbie,” portrayed bizarrely as a CGI monkey, played interchangeably by Williams himself and actor Jonno Davies.

Better man is set to release in UK cinemas on the December 26.
