Primary school evacuated after ‘malicious threat’ sparks major police response
A primary school has been evacuated after a “malicious threat” has sparked a major police response in Wiltshire.
Officers descended on Badbury Park Primary School in Swindon at around 2.30pm earlier today following reports of the alleged danger.
A spokesman for Swindon Police said: “We are currently responding to a report of a malicious threat at Badbury Park Primary School in Rainscombe Road, Swindon.”
They added that specialist officers were attending the scene as the school follow its emergency evacuation protocol as a precautionary measure.
A 200-metre cordon has been set up around the school.
“We will issue a further update when appropriate,” the spokesman concluded.
Earlier today, the school confirmed that it would evacuate in a social media post on Facebook, causing concerned parents to rush to pick up their children.
The post reads: “School is being evacuated so please collect children from Biddestone Ave on corner on Belcombe close.

“Please collect children who walk from home.
“Further info to follow. We are all ok”.
More than 15 police cars at the scene, media reports have claimed.
Additionally, both Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service and South Western Ambulance Service have also deployed senior officers and commanders.
Properties close by have also been evacuated, as emergency officers cordon off several surrounding roads with guards on standby.
The school is just under three miles south east of Swindon’s town centre and is situated near the M4 motorway.
