Official England football kits spark FURY amid row over new ‘woke’ St George Cross

Patriotic England football fans have responded with fury after Nike unveiled a new Three Lions kit ahead of the European Championships this summer.

The American sports brand designed a strip with a modification to St George’s Cross which some have even labelled as “woke”.

Navy blue, light blue and pink replaced the horizontal line of the traditional red cross.

Despite being revealed by Nike on Monday, the change only appeared to spark social media fury yesterday afternoon.

Nike claimed the new strips will “celebrate football heroes of the past with a modern twist”, adding the alteration to the St George’s Cross was intended to “unite and inspire”.

Expressing his outrage, Reform UK MP Lee Anderson told the Daily Express: “The left have a nerve to ask me why I want my country back.

“This virtue signalling, namby-pamby, pearl-clutching woke nonsense must stop.

“Any more of this and I’ll be on the first flight to Rwanda.”

Tory MP Brendan Clarke-Smith added: “Maybe somebody in the design department misheard Three Lions and instead went for three lines on a shirt.

“I’m not sure what this is supposed to be, but it certainly looks nothing like our flag and I’m not sure it needs an ‘update’ either.

“That said, I doubt they’ll shift many at those sort of prices.”

Other users on social media voiced their concerns with the updated flag.

One said: “I’m not patriotic at all but that’s a disgrace.

“If I cared at all about England I’d be fuming.”

Another wrote: “Imagine doing that to any other country’s flag, just imagine it.”

A third added: “Not an England flag anymore now, is it you morons?”
