New details behind ‘evil’ New Orleans attack emerge after ‘three men and a woman’ caught ‘placing explosives’ on CCTV
“Three men and a woman” have been caught on CCTV placing an improvised explosive device ahead of last night’s “evil” truck attack in New Orleans, according to US media.
A Louisiana State Police bulletin circulated between law enforcement officials said that the four had been seen on surveillance footage laying down the devices before at least 10 revellers were killed in the opening moments of 2025.
The driver, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, died at the scene in a police shootout – and officials had warned he may have been acting in concert with others.
After the attack, investigators found weapons and a potential explosive device in the vehicle, and other potential explosive devices were found in the French Quarter, the FBI said.
But Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry became visibly angry when asked about how confident officials were that Jabbar did not act alone, saying, “Why would we tell you?”
Local police chief Anne Kirkpatrick told reporters today that “this is not just an act of terrorism, this is evil”.
She had said earlier: “He was hell-bent on creating the carnage and the damage that he did.”
