Meghan Markle’s professional separation from Prince Harry has been backed by a royal commentator ahead of a pivotal week for the duchess.
The Duchess of Sussex is set to launch her new Netflix cookery show “With Love, Meghan” next Tuesday, March 4.
The programme marks her first solo project for Netflix since signing with the streaming giant in 2020.
The Duchess of Sussex’s culinary series is part of a significant separation of the couple’s professional lives as the Sussexes move away from joint projects.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex initially signed a joint deal with Netflix after stepping down as working royals in 2020.
Their debut series “Harry & Meghan” broke several Netflix records and was considered a huge success.
The couple featured prominently together in this first project, but have since shifted their approach.
They now appear to be pursuing separate professional paths with individual content creation.
Prince Harry’s solo Netflix ventures have not matched their joint success.
The Duke of Sussex’s “Heart of Invictus” released in August 2023 featured Meghan minimally and underperformed compared to their debut series.
The Duke’s follow-up project “Polo” was released in December 2024, also failed to breakthrough in the same way the Sussexes’ debut project did, despite it being executively produced by the couple.
Neither Harry nor Meghan featured prominently in the behind-the-scenes look at the sport.
Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams believes Meghan’s new show will outshine her husband’s efforts.
Fitzwillaims told GB News: “Meghan’s cookery programme will have a lot of viewers.”
“There is no doubt it will be more successful than Polo.”
The Sussexes appear to be carving out distinct individual identities in their post-royal careers.
This strategic pivot may reflect their recognition that solo projects aligned with personal interests could yield better results.
