Maura Higgins sends clear message to Pete Wicks amid BBC Strictly stint after addressing romance
Maura Higgins has shown her support for rumoured boyfriend Pete Wicks from Australia, urging fans to vote for him on Strictly Come Dancing.
The former Love Island star took to social media to share a video of Wicks’ performance, writing: “Go on @pete_Wicks01!! Let’s get them to the final.”
She included a link encouraging followers to “Vote Powita” as Wicks and his dance partner Jowita Pryzstal vie for a place in the show’s finale.
The sweet message comes after Higgins finally opened up about her relationship with Wicks during a conversation with campmate Oti Mabuse during her stint on the ITV show.
The Irish star revealed she had been close friends with Wicks for five years before their romance began.
When asked by Mabuse what changed, Higgins simply replied: “He wouldn’t give up.”
She disclosed details of their first date, saying: “I actually brought my friends with me and I was like ‘See it is a friendship date’.”
The pair later enjoyed a second date alone, sharing oysters and wine.
Wicks and Przystal set pulses racing with their steamy Argentine Tango during Saturday night’s Strictly semi-final.
Dancing to Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve, the pair got notably close throughout their performance.
The sizzling routine left judge Motsi Mabuse flustered as she exclaimed: “That was hot.”
Fans took to social media to comment on their chemistry, with one writing: “Say what you will about Pete but damn that man can create such chemistry with Jowita.”
Another added: “Did look like Pete and Jowita were going to kiss they were that close at the end.”
During a recent appearance on This Morning, Higgins shared her excitement about seeing Wicks and praised his support towards her before she headed Down Under.
“Honestly he’s been so supportive. I didn’t know if he was still in Strictly, I’m so proud of him and he’s proud of me and I can’t wait to see him,” she confessed.
The conversation took an interesting turn when host Alison Hammond cheekily asked if she could be a bridesmaid at their potential wedding.
