King Charles cancer update a ‘positive development’ as treatment continues: ‘He’s doing extremely well’

King Charles’s latest health update is a “positive development” for the monarch to get as “near as back to normal as possible”, it has been claimed.

Palace sources have confirmed that the King, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, will maintain his treatment as a managed condition whilst continuing his public duties.

The Palace added that his condition is “moving in a positive direction”.

Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams affirmed that the update should be viewed as “good news”, noting it’s “not unusual” for cancer treatment to continue for several months.

“The King’s cancer was diagnosed after his large prostate operation in January, and the first major public appearance was at Easter,” Fitzwilliams explained.

He added: “And then subsequent to that, he was able to start public engagements and then most recently, of course, paused the treatment for the successful tour of Australia, Samoa and of course his opening of CHOGM went ahead.”

Remaning optimistic for the King’s health, Fitzwilliams noted that although his condition will be “monitored by doctors”, the continuation of treatment can still be seen as a “positive development”.

He told GB News: “Now, what were meant to make of it, of course, is this is good news. It’s not unusual for treatment apparently to continue for some months, and the emphasis is on is very much as near back to normal as possible.

“Obviously, this will be monitored and obviously subject to medical supervision.”

LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:

Fitzwilliams noted that whilst treatment continues under medical supervision, the King has shown remarkable resilience.

“The King, I’m sure the most impatient patient we know, is a workaholic and obviously this has been we know frustrating for him,” he added.

The royal commentator also praised Queen Camilla’s supportive role of the king throughout the year.

“Queen Camilla’s been such a splendid support, and he seems to be doing extremely well,” he noted.

“He’s done so remarkably well,” Fitzwilliams told GB News. “If anybody happened just to see the photographs and footage of some of his engagements, I think they’d really be very surprised to hear that he had cancer.”

Looking ahead to next year, Fitzwilliams suggested that the king is “setting the scene” for his continued duties, despite his continued treatment.

Fitzwilliams concluded: “This has clearly been a deeply difficult year, but it sets the scene for what’s hoped and intended to be what we see in the next year.

“So from that point of view, I think it’s undoubtedly a positive development.”
