Keir Starmer will ‘cling on until his fingernails bleed’ despite viral petition: ‘He won’t go quietly!’
Political commentator Carole Malone declared that Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer will “cling on till his fingernails bleed” despite mounting pressure for him to step down.
Speaking to GB News, Malone delivered a scathing assessment of Starmer’s position, emphasising his determination to retain power despite growing public dissatisfaction.
“He has worked very hard to get this job and he wants to stay. And he’s not going to go. He’s not going to go quietly,” Malone told GB News.
The commentator dismissed the possibility of Deputy Leader Angela Rayner as an alternative, stating she “only appeals to a very small section of the Labour Party” and doesn’t resonate with the majority of voters.
An online petition demanding a new general election has garnered over 2.5 million signatures in less than a week.
The petition, hosted on the UK parliament’s website, has achieved the fastest growth to one million signatures in history.
Launched by Michael Westwood, it criticises the Government for “going back on the promises it laid out in the lead-up to the last election.”
Westwood told the Express he feels “betrayed with the promises we were told” during the election campaign.
The viral campaign has attracted global attention, with Malone noting: “The fact that Elon Musk has tweeted about this, this has attracted global headlines.”
Malone sharply criticised Starmer’s response to the petition, referencing his spokesman’s claim that he remains focused on issues affecting British people.
“He absolutely is not focused on the stuff that affects British people,” she told GB News.

The commentator accused Starmer’s Government of “freezing pensioners to death” and implementing policies that would harm businesses.
“He’s going to make businesses go bust, employ less people, so that’s going to be fewer jobs, which will affect growth,” she said.
Malone also condemned the Government’s approach to farming, stating: “He’s actually crippling the farmers so they can put more pylons and solar panels on their land.”
She further accused the Prime Minister of creating “almost a police state,” claiming: “He’s trying to police our speech and our thought.”
Malone highlighted Starmer’s perceived disconnect with public sentiment, particularly regarding environmental policies.
“That’s not mentioning net zero, all of that. So he’s doing the opposite of what people want,” she stated.
The commentator pointed to a dramatic decline in the Prime Minister’s popularity since taking office.
According to Malone, Starmer’s approval ratings have now plummeted to -38 per cent, a significant drop of “49 points since the election”, she noted.
