Kamala Harris campaign ‘instantly eclipsed’ by RFK Jr’s endorsement of Trump: ‘Gives him edge in key states’
Robert F Kennedy Jr’s endorsement of Donald Trump could help “make the difference in key swing states” against Kamala Harris, it has been claimed.
The 70-year-old nephew of former President John F Kennedy announced he would be suspending his campaign at a press conference in Arizona on Friday.
RFK Jr made clear his name “will remain on the ballot in most states”, telling voters: “If you live in a blue state, you can vote for me without harming or helping President Trump or Vice President Harris.”
Donald Trump then introduced the independent candidate to the stage at his own rally in Glendale, where he declared RFK Jr’s candidacy has “inspired millions and millions of Americans and raised critical issues that have been too long ignored in this country”.
Speaking to GB News, US journalist and author Nelson Aspen says the team up of RFK Jr and Trump has “instantly eclipsed” an “important week” for rival Kamala Harris after the Democratic National Convention.
Aspen told GB News: “The shock of the announcement comes right off the heels of the week long festival of joy to welcome Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for President.
“So that was all instantly eclipsed the moment that Robert F Kennedy decided to announce in a press conference that he was suspending his campaign and throwing his support behind former President Trump.”
Noting RFK Jr’s own campaign and how he “didn’t have a realistic shot at the White House” as an independent candidate, Aspen claimed that his endorsement of Trump can “make the difference” across key swing states come November.
Aspen explained: “It is very important, and it could make the difference in some key swing states. It could make the margin of difference just that much tighter. And maybe, perhaps give President Trump an edge over Vice President Harris.

“What was most noteworthy was, of course, the Kennedy name is iconic in American politics, and his own family had thrown him under the bus early on to put their support behind Joe Biden. So they have yet to remark on this latest development.”
Detailing the Democratic support that the Kennedy family still holds despite RFK Jr’s endorsement, Aspen revealed that the family have released a “blistering statement” condemning his support for the Republican side and Donald Trump.
He added: “They don’t agree with their brother’s affiliation and endorsement of Donald Trump. And actually, they’re backing Kamala Harris and Walz.
“They had to say something because the whole family got up there as a unit alongside President Biden to offer them their enthusiastic support in spite of their own Kennedy family member. So they were stuck with egg on their face when when this all happened.”
Turning the discussion to Kamala Harris following the Democratic convention (DNC), Aspen told GB News that President Joe Biden has been “conspicuously absent” throughout her campaign, to give his Vice President “her moment to shine”.
Aspen said: “She has been largely silent, other than what she’s reading off the teleprompter. But she reads off the teleprompter extremely well, and she was surrounded by movie stars and music stars.
“It was a week long festival of excitement, balloons, endorsements, and in the words of Oprah Winfrey, it was joy.
“Michelle and Barack Obama came and spoke and Michelle said she felt that it was a magical moment. So let’s see – the last three and a half years haven’t been so magical, but maybe things are about to get all twinkly.”
