Jay-Z denies ‘heinous’ claims he raped a 13-year-old girl in 2000: ‘Only heartbreak is for my family’
Rapper and music mogul Jay-Z has slammed claims he sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl with Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs at a party after the 2000 MTV Music Video Awards as a “blackmail attempt”.
The 55-year-old, whose real name is Shawn Carter, was accused of the act in a civil lawsuit in October, which was refiled on Sunday in New York’s Southern District.
The woman accusing the rapper, named as Jane Doe, alleges she was assaulted on September 7, 2000, in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall.
Tony Buzbee, who is representing Doe, has also previously filed complaints against Combs on behalf of more than 50 plaintiffs.
In response, Jay-Z issued a statement to DailyMail.com strenuously denying the claims. He later published the statement through the Instagram account of his Roc Nation label.
“My lawyer received a blackmail attempt, called a demand letter, from a ‘lawyer’ named Tony Buzbee,” the statement began, adding: “What he had calculated was the nature of these allegations and the public scrutiny would make me want to settle.”.
The 99 Problems hitmaker blasted: “No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud you are in a VERY public fashion. So no, I will not give you ONE RED PENNY!!”
The lengthy statement continued, challenging Buzbee to pursue the claims in a criminal court rather than a civil one.
He proposed: “Whomever would commit such a crime against a minor should be locked away, would you not agree?”
Jay-Z explained he has “done a bit of research” on Buzbee and alleged he “seems to have a pattern of these type of theatrics!”
“My only heartbreak is for my family,” the statement added.
The 55-year-old shares three children with pop icon Beyoncé from their 16-year marriage.
“My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people,” Jay-Z said.
He continued: “I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age.”
Jay-Z went on to brand Buzbee as “deplorable” and an “ambulance chaser in a cheap suit” in a warning that he was “more than prepared to deal with your type.”
The 55-year-old blasted: “I’m a young man who made it out of the project of Brooklyn. We don’t play these types of games.”

The statement concluded: “Only your network of conspiracy theorists, fake physics, will believe the idiotic claims you have levied against me.”
According to NBC News, the accuser claims she was told she “fit what Diddy was looking for” by a driver who took her to a house party.
While there, Doe alleges she was made to sign a document now “believed” to be a non-disclosure agreement and was given a drink that made her feel “woozy and lightheaded”.
In the lawsuit, she alleges Jay-Z and Combs entered a room where she was laying down and took off her clothes.
Doe claims both Jay-Z and Combs then raped her while an unnamed female celebrity watched. The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages against the music moguls.
