ITV The 1% Club sees awkward blunder as Lee Mack apologises on-air ‘So sorry!’

Lee Mack was forced to apologise after an awkward blunder during ITV’s The 1% Club Christmas special.

The festive edition of the popular game show saw the comedian host a holiday-themed episode with contestants dressed in seasonal attire.

The mishap occurred when Mack accidentally called contestant Ray Johnson by the wrong name during an interview segment.

The error was particularly notable as Mack had confused Ray, who was dressed as Santa Claus, with another contestant named Colin who had earlier been eliminated from the show.

The incident added an unexpected layer of awkwardness to the festive special, which featured holiday-themed questions for its 100 participants.

Colin found himself in an embarrassing position as the only contestant eliminated after the show’s first question.

The opening round required participants to determine whether there were more elves or reindeers behind a fence in an image.

While the majority correctly voted for elves, Colin was the sole contestant to answer incorrectly.

“I don’t know what to say, I am embarrassed,” Colin admitted on camera.

Lee Mack attempted to comfort him, saying: “You don’t have to be embarrassed, it is easily done.”

However, Colin remained mortified, responding: “I can’t believe I’ve done this on telly. I’ve done it now.”

The host couldn’t resist a playful jab, quipping: “It’s easily done. Well no it’s not, you was the only one.”

Viewers at home expressed their disbelief on social media, with one asking: “How did anyone in the history of this planet get it wrong?”

Later in the show, Lee Mack spoke with Ray Johnson, who was dressed as Santa Claus and had correctly answered the earlier question.

The interview got off to an awkward start when Mack mixed up the contestants’ names.

“So tell me if you win, what are you going to do with the money Colin? No, Ray, sorry,” the host stumbled.

The camera quickly cut to Colin’s reaction, prompting Mack to joke: “Oh yeah bring up Colin again, thanks, cheers mate.”

The situation became even more amusing as Mack continued to narrate from Colin’s perspective: “‘They’d forgotten about me but now they’ve remembered. Oh, another close-up. Great Lee.'”

The blunder added another layer of festive entertainment to the Christmas special.
